Air Travel

Several flights arrive daily at Morelia’s International Airport. Mexicana Air offers direct service from Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Jose, Houston and Chicago. Other cities in the U.S., as well as Europe, offer major airline flights via Mexico City, with an additional flight to Morelia taking only 50 minutes.

By Car

Morelia is just 4 hours (195 miles) west of Mexico City; 3 hours (228 miles)  south east of Guadalajara; and 5 hours north west of Acapulco. There is a completed superhighway that connects Morelia to Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo on the Pacific Coast, a 3 hour drive.

By Bus

There are 2 major bus lines with frequent departure times from major cities and towns. The small villages all have bus service, though it may not be deluxe.

By Taxi

You can hire a private taxi to take you anywhere you’d like to go at prices much less expensive than you’d think possible. Just inquire upon arrival.

NOTE: In Mexico City, ONLY get a taxi that is referred to you BY YOUR AIRLINE upon arrival.  Be very specific about this for your safety.
